Assign positions to a department
This guide shows you how to assign positions to a department. Positions are assigned to departments through the position editor.
Prerequisites
- You have the required permissions (see above)
Instructions
Navigate to the People page in the left sidebar and select the Positions tab. Open the Edit position modal using one of these methods:
- Click on a position to open the Position outline panel, then click Edit in the top-right corner.
- Click the overflow menu (···) next to a position in the list and select Edit.
Step 1: Open department settings in position modal
Click Edit next to Department.
Step 2: Assign department to position
Select a department from the dropdown.
Step 3: Save the position
Click Add position or Update position to save your changes.
Troubleshooting
| Issue | Solution |
|---|---|
| Department not in dropdown | The department may not exist yet. Click Add department in new tab to create it first. |
| No departments available | Create departments in Settings → Org Settings → Org Structure → Departments before assigning them to positions. |
